Neoregelia 'Guacemole'

Neoregelia 'Guacamole' is a captivating bromeliad celebrated for its bold, multicolored foliage displaying emerald green, buttery yellow, and deep burgundy variegation. Originating from the humid understory of Brazilian tropical forests, this epiphytic plant belongs to the Bromeliaceae family and represents one of the most visually striking cultivars in the genus. Neoregelias are rosette-forming bromeliads adapted to life in rainforest canopies, where they naturally grow on tree branches. Unlike many houseplants, they don't require soil to thrive—they absorb moisture and nutrients through specialized leaf bases and a central water-holding cup. This unique adaptation makes them exceptional specimens for collectors seeking low-maintenance yet dramatic foliage plants.  'Guacamole' develops a compact rosette 12–18 inches wide, with arching leaves that deepen in color intensity as the plant matures. Small, tubular flowers emerge from the center rosette, typically in shades of purple or red, though the foliage remains the primary ornamental feature.  Bright, filtered light enhances color saturation. Maintain temperatures between 65–80°F and humidity above 50%. These bromeliads tolerate moderate indoor conditions but excel in warm, humid environments.  Fill the central cup with filtered water, refreshing every 2–3 weeks. Keep the potting medium (orchid bark or sphagnum moss) lightly moist. Feed monthly during growing season with diluted bromeliad or orchid fertilizer. Mature plants produce pups that can be separated and propagated once established.
