Nepenthes rafflesiana, is a tropical carnivorous plant native to Brunei that commonly hybridizes with nearby species such as N. gracilis, N. ampullaria, N. bicalcarata, and various forms of N. mirabilis. This frequent hybridization leads to notable variability within populations, making truly “pure” specimens rare except in isolated areas. For optimal growth, provide high humidity (70% or higher) and bright, indirect light. Use a well-draining, acidic substrate composed of sphagnum moss and perlite. Keep the soil consistently moist without waterlogging and ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal problems. Feeding with small insects supports healthy pitcher development naturally.
