Native to tropical and subtropical Asia and eastern Australia, Alocasia is a genus of broad-leaved, flowering plants in the Aroid family. While there are only about 90 true species, many growers and hybridizers have come up with some incredible cultivars and hybrids.
As popular as they are, Alocasia can also be a tad needy when it comes to their care. Those that master it, will have wild success with all types of Alocasia. Heat and humidity are key components to keeping your Alocasia happy and preventing a dormancy stage.
Keep the soil moderately moist, and warm, and provide multiple hours of bright, indirect sunlight. Some Alocasia varieties can adapt to full sun without a problem, but starting off slow is always best.
