Hoya crassipetiolata

Hoya are commonly kept, grown, collected and loved by houseplant enthusiasts of all ages and experience levels.  They are pet safe per the ASPCA and there are hundreds and hundreds of species and cultivars available.  

Most are native to Asia, including the Philippines,  India, Thailand, Malaysai and Indonesia, with many species also being found in Australia. They are easy to keep trailing vines that often grow epiphytically on trees and other surfaces.

Hoya also produce some of the most intricate and beautiful flowers, all shaped like a five pointed star.  Some species have flower petals that reflex, or turn in, creating a ball-like shape of colorful and sometimes fragrant flowers.
